Tinubu Congratulates Winners of By-Elections, Commends INEC
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the winners of the by-elections held on Saturday, August 16, across 16 constituencies in 12 states.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting peaceful and largely violence-free polls.
According to the results announced by INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victories in 12 constituencies, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won two, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) each won one.
Tinubu also congratulated the newly elected APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on recording the party’s first electoral victory under his leadership. He commended APC governors and party leaders for their efforts in ensuring success.
“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has shown strong leadership and proven what can be achieved when credible candidates are presented and party leaders work with unity of purpose,” Tinubu said.
The President thanked APC members and the electorate for their support, assuring them that his administration’s Renewed Hope agenda is aimed at building a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
He further praised all political parties and candidates who contested, urging them to uphold sportsmanship, fairness, and magnanimity in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
