ZLP Chairman Cautions Jonathan Against 2027 Presidential Run

The National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dan Nwanyanwu, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan not to contest in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Politics Today on Friday, Nwanyanwu stated that many of those currently urging Jonathan to run are the same individuals who betrayed him during his time in office as president.

According to him:

He has not yet met Jonathan personally but plans to do so.

He aligns with the position of Patience Jonathan, who is reportedly opposed to her husband re-entering the presidential race.

He claimed that those now encouraging Jonathan only intend to use him to “clean their mess.”

Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2011 to 2015 after completing the tenure of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, has not declared interest in the 2027 election.

Despite growing calls from political observers and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jonathan has consistently maintained that he is not planning a return to partisan politics at this time.

Since leaving office, Jonathan has focused on diplomacy, peace-building, and leading election observer missions across Africa.
