Anambra First Lady Urges Collective Effort to End Malaria.
Dr. Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State, has called for united efforts to tackle malaria as part of the 2025 World Malaria Day. She emphasized the need for communities to take responsibility in creating malaria-free environments.
Speaking on Saturday, she pointed out that Nigeria remains one of the countries most affected by malaria in Africa. Highlighting the importance of preventive measures, she encouraged the use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets. Since 2023, more than 3.8 million of these nets have been distributed across Anambra to both households and health centers.
Referencing this year’s World Malaria Day theme, “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” she stressed the urgency of action, noting that malaria still claims a life every minute, mostly in Africa.
Dr. Soludo also underscored the importance of immunisation, especially for children aged 0–15 months. Launching the 2025 World Immunisation Week in Anambra, she urged parents, schools, religious institutions, and community leaders to support vaccination efforts to protect children from preventable diseases.
She concluded by calling on all stakeholders to see the health and safety of children as a shared, non-negotiable responsibility.
