Armed men storm Natasha’s family residence in Kogi.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, raised an alarm on Thursday after armed men reportedly attacked her family home in Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State.
The incident was revealed through a statement from her media team in Abuja.
She explained that the gunmen broke into and vandalized her grandfather’s house on Tuesday. However, the assault was successfully repelled by security personnel.
The statement read in part: “Two days ago, my younger brother accompanied some contractors to Ihima to survey sites for upcoming constituency projects. The attackers, mistakenly believing I was in town, targeted my family home that night.
Fortunately, members of the civil defence corps and local residents intervened swiftly and forced them to flee. The incident was reported to the area police command, and no injuries were recorded. We call on the Inspector General of Police to immediately restore my security detail.
The statement also appealed to the public to stay calm and support efforts to ensure justice, emphasizing that the senator’s commitment to her constituents should not be met with threats or violence.
