Army Honours NDDC Boss Samuel Ogbuku for Outstanding Service.
The Nigerian Army has awarded Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Manag
ing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), with the Nigerian Army Outstanding Service Commendation Medal (NAOSCM) in recognition of his contributions to the Army’s infrastructure, capacity building, and operational effectiveness.
According to a letter from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, Ogbuku’s efforts significantly supported the Army’s goals and aligned with the Command Philosophy of the Nigerian Army. The medal was presented during the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration Lecture and Award Ceremony held in Abuja.
In a statement released in Port Harcourt, NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, highlighted the award and its significance.
In a separate event, the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) also recognized Ogbuku as a “Champion of Transformational Leadership” during the World Press Briefing in Asaba. The award was presented by NUJ Chairman, Churchill Oyewe.
Ogbuku expressed gratitude for the recognition from both the Army and the NUJ, stating it would motivate the Commission to continue its development efforts. He praised the Nigerian Army’s role in maintaining peace in the Niger Delta, which he described as essential for progress.
The NDDC and Nigerian Army have a longstanding partnership. We recognize that security, peace, and development are deeply connected. Without security, there can be no peace, and without peace, there can be no development,” Ogbuku said.
He reaffirmed the NDDC’s commitment to supporting security agencies, emphasizing that their success directly contributes to the Commission’s mission in the region.
