Arsenal Preparing £51m Bid for Sporting CP Striker Viktor Gyökeres.

Arsenal are reportedly planning a renewed offer to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.

Following recent transfer activ

ity that includes expected signings of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Brentford midfielder Christian Nørgaard, the club is now revisiting talks with Sporting over Gyökeres.

Earlier this month, Arsenal submitted an informal offer worth £47 million plus £8.5 million in add-ons. They are now said to be preparing a new proposal with a guaranteed £51 million upfront. This comes after pulling back from interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško due to high wage demands.

Sporting, however, remain firm on their £68 million asking price for Gyökeres. Additionally, the player’s agent is entitled to a 10% commission on any rejected bid over £51 million though this clause is optional. If invoked, Sporting might respond by enforcing Gyökeres’ full £85 million release clause.

Despite Portuguese media speculation, British journalists such as David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano, and Sami Mokbel have yet to report any updates on Arsenal’s pursuit. This has led some to believe the reports may be driven more by the player’s camp than by actual movement from Arsenal.

Currently, Arsenal are working on deals for two strikers. While Gyökeres remains a target, Šeško is still considered the club’s top priority. Manager Mikel Arteta is keen to have a new striker on board before the squad departs for their pre-season tour on July 19.

Gyökeres is reportedly eager to leave Sporting and views Arsenal as his ideal destination, though the club’s attention appears to remain focused on Šeško, who recently followed Arsenal on Instagram a move interpreted as a possible hint about his future.
