Baba-Ahmed’s 2027 Remarks as ‘Illogical’ and ‘Misguided’

Sunday Dare, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, has strongly criticized comments made by Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate.

During an appearance on Arise Television, Baba-Ahmed had urged President Tinubu not to seek re-election in 2027, suggesting that Nigerians would demand genuine democratic leadership. In response, Dare dismissed these statements via a post on his official X handle, describing Baba-Ahmed’s remarks as incoherent, unfounded, and lacking in substance.

Dare likened Baba-Ahmed’s political commentary to baseless prophecies and questioned both his competence and credibility. He said Baba-Ahmed’s arguments were not only flawed but also lacked logical reasoning, and he compared listening to him with enduring a tormenting experience.

According to Dare, Baba-Ahmed based his predictions on the assumption that Tinubu’s past would hinder a second term, failing to consider the ongoing reforms and governance achievements. He accused Baba-Ahmed of deliberately ignoring Tinubu’s performance and choosing instead to make theoretical assumptions disconnected from political reality.

Dare also dismissed Baba-Ahmed’s claim that Tinubu had failed to fulfill campaign promises, calling it dishonest. He pointed to the positive effects of Tinubu’s economic reforms, citing international recognition, including from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which praised the administration’s efforts to stabilize Nigeria’s economy.

He concluded by predicting Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 elections, asserting that the president’s performance would speak for itself. Dare urged Baba-Ahmed to reconsider his political approach and suggested that he might be better off leaving politics to those more capable.
