BREAKING: DSS Arrests NELMCO Senior Staff After Alleging Forgery and Challenging Management Misconduct.

Operatives of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested Nene Lily Emeya, a Senior Manager in the Risk Management Department at the Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO).

According to information obtained by SaharaReporters, Emeya was detained shortly before she was due to appear before an internal disciplinary panel. Her arrest follows her calls for a formal investigation into the alleged forgery of her signature on legal documents and her outspoken criticism of the company’s Managing Director, Mojoyinoluwa Dekalu-Thomas.

Sources within the agency suggest the arrest may have been strategically timed to suppress Emeya’s whistleblowing efforts. One source claimed she was targeted after challenging the MD during a staff meeting and was subsequently issued a query, to which she responded before being arrested by DSS operatives.

Emeya had previously raised concerns in a letter dated October 14, 2024, where she alleged that her signature was forged on court documents in a case where she was listed as a witness. She stated that her complaint was ignored by the company’s General Counsel, Ugochukwu Ogbonna, and instead of addressing the issue, she was reassigned to the Risk Management department in what she described as a retaliatory move.

In her formal response to the internal query, dated June 25, 2025, Emeya denied all allegations of misconduct, including insubordination, the use of offensive language, and making false claims. She described the accusations as unfounded, vague, and based on hearsay from unnamed individuals.

She specifically denied being unruly during a staff forum on June 19, stating that her contributions were respectful and professional. She also rejected the claim that she used derogatory terms such as “Yoruba bastards,” “bastard,” or “witches coven,” stating she had never used such language and no specific complainants were identified.

On the key issue of signature forgery, Emeya maintained that no internal investigation had been carried out, and no attempt had been made by management to verify the authenticity of the legal documents or consult the lawyers involved. She emphasized that her reports did not name any individuals but that dismissing her claims without due process was inappropriate.

Emeya concluded by reaffirming her professional conduct, asserting that she had always maintained respectful interactions with colleagues and did not engage in any behavior that could be considered disruptive or threatening.
