A multi-storey building under construction on Oremeta Street, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos State, collapsed on Saturday morning, leaving many people trapped beneath the rubble.
The structure also housed the popular EqualRight Restaurant. Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred around 8 a.m., taking both occupants and passersby by surprise.
Speaking anonymously, one resident described the building as structurally unsound and likened it to “a bomb waiting to explode.” The exact cause of the collapse remains unknown.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) have arrived and begun rescue operations, although the number of those trapped is still unclear.
As operations continue, concerned residents have gathered at the scene, hoping for positive outcomes.
