Coco Gauff Wins First French Open Title After Epic Comeback Against Aryna Sabalenka.

Coco Gauff clinched her first French Open title with a remarkable comeback victory over world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in Saturday’s women’s singles final at Roland-Garros. The 21-year-old American defeated Sabalenka 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-4 in a high-intensity match that lasted two hours and 38 minutes.

Gauff is now the first American woman to win the French Open since Serena Williams in 2015 and the youngest to do so since Williams’ triumph in 2002. The final featured the top two seeds at the tournament, marking the first such matchup since Serena Williams faced Maria Sharapova in 2013.

   Match Highlights:

Sabalenka began strongly, dominating early exchanges and breaking Gauff’s serve with a streak of nine straight points. However, Gauff fought back, leveling the set at 4-4 after capitalizing on a crucial Sabalenka error. Despite Gauff’s push, Sabalenka edged the first set in a tightly contested tie-break.

Undeterred, Gauff rebounded in the second set, breaking Sabalenka’s serve early and controlling the momentum with aggressive net play and consistent shot-making. She wrapped up the set quickly to even the match.

In the decisive third set, Gauff kept her composure while Sabalenka showed signs of frustration. Gauff secured a break and held her nerve to serve for the match. After missing her first match point, she sealed victory when Sabalenka sent a final shot wide. Gauff collapsed to the clay in tears of joy after the hard-fought win.

   Sabalenka Reacts:

An emotional Sabalenka apologized for her performance, calling it a “terrible final,” after committing 70 unforced errors. Despite the loss, she congratulated Gauff, calling her a “fighter” and “hard worker.”

Congrats, Coco. In these tough conditions, you were better. You and your team deserve this,” Sabalenka said, tearfully addressing the crowd.

  A Career Milestone:

The win adds a second Grand Slam title to Gauff’s growing resume, following her US Open triumph as a teenager. Her performance cements her place among the elite in women’s tennis and signals the continuation of a promising career on the biggest stages.
