Dangote Tops List of Africa’s Leading Consumer Goods Manufacturers in 2025.
A recent survey has named Dangote Industries as the top consumer goods manufacturer in Africa for 2025
The ranking, released by The African Exponent, highlights Dangote’s dominance in essential household and food products. The company’s integrated operations and extensive logistics network across West and Central Africa were noted as key to its success. Its leading brands include Dangote Sugar, Dangote Salt, and Dangote Pasta.
Nestlé placed second, recognized for its continued leadership in nutrition and wellness. The company operates factories in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Côte d’Ivoire, with significant investments in product localization. Its major brands include Milo, Nescafé, Cerelac, and Maggi.
Unilever secured third place. With operations in over 20 African countries, the company enhanced local sourcing in 2025. Its key products include OMO, Close-Up, Lipton, Vaseline, and Knorr.
Tiger Brands, based in South Africa, was ranked fourth. Known for products such as Jungle Oats, Koo, All Gold, and Ingram’s, the company continues to expand its reach in Nigeria and Ghana.
In fifth place is SABMiller AB InBev, a major brewing company with a strong presence across Southern and Eastern Africa. Its flagship brands include Castle Lager, Carling Black Label, and Eagle.
Société Anonyme des Brasseries du Cameroun (SABC) was ranked sixth. As Cameroon’s largest beverage producer, backed by the Castel Group, SABC holds over 75% market share. Notable brands include Castel Beer, Beaufort, Tropical, and Spécial.
Seventh on the list is Fan Milk, a Danone company with a growing footprint in Ghana, Nigeria, and Francophone West Africa. It continues to lead with dairy-based innovations such as Fan Yogo, FanChoco, and FanVanille.
Dufil Prima Foods, maker of Indomie noodles and part of the Tolaram Group, was ranked eighth. The brand remains dominant in the fast food FMCG sector in Nigeria and West Africa.
Kenya’s Bidco Africa came in ninth. Known for its wide range of products—Kimbo, Elianto, Bidco Juice, and Nuru Bidco plays a vital role in East Africa’s consumer goods market.
Rounding out the top ten is Bakhresa Group from Tanzania, with products such as Azam and Uhai. The group operates in over 10 African countries, focusing on flour, beverages, and snacks.
The report concludes that Africa’s consumer goods industry is rapidly expanding, fueled by urbanization, shifting consumer preferences, and population growth. Companies are scaling up operations, introducing new products, and reaching wider markets. The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector is projected to be worth \$20.9 billion by the end of 2025, with household consumption in Africa expected to hit \$2.1 trillion.
