Veteran Afrobeats artist D’banj has annou
nced plans for a collaborative tour with fellow Nigerian music stars, 2Baba and Timaya.
Speaking in an interview with Adesope Live in London, D’banj reflected on the evolution of Afrobeats—from its early days in the 2000s to its current global recognition. He highlighted how both artists and the African diaspora contributed to the genre’s worldwide success.
I was talking with Timaya recently, and he encouraged me to step back into music more actively,” D’banj said. “I also spoke with 2Baba, and we all agreed—let’s go on tour together.
He revealed that they’re preparing a new single titled “Feeling Good”, featuring himself and 2Baba. The upcoming tour will serve as a way to thank fans for their support over the past two decades.
D’banj also spoke on how cultural perception has shifted. “I remember a time when it wasn’t cool to be Nigerian in the UK. Everyone wanted to be Jamaican,” he said. Now, Afrobeats is everywhere—even in UK films.
The artist praised not only the musicians but also the wider African community abroad for helping Afrobeats gain international acclaim.
