Deyemi Okanlawon Shares Experience Filming in Japan.

In March 2025, acclaimed Nigerian actor and filmmaker Deyemi Okanlawon ventured

into new territory by joining Japan’s entertainment industry.

Following a family trip to Tokyo, Okanlawon entered into a production collaboration with NHK Japan, one of the country’s leading broadcasting networks. This marked his official debut in the Japanese film scene.

Speaking about the project, he described the experience as one of the most memorable of his life.

I just got back from filming a sci-fi television series in Japan. They needed an African character, did their research, and invited me to join the cast,” he shared. “I spent three months filming. It was the best experience of my life. The Japanese truly embody a spirit of excellence.”

This collaboration adds a significant milestone to Okanlawon’s growing international career.
