Operatives from the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 40 individuals suspected of internet fraud during separate raids in the Bida and Minna regions of Niger State.
In a statement by Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, the arrests followed credible intelligence linking the individuals to various cybercrime activities.
Among the unusual items seized were four pairs of women’s underwear, a waist bead, three feather-adorned calabashes, homemade soap and sponge, a bottle of alcohol, and 20 cowries—objects believed to be of fetish significance.
Other items recovered include three vehicles, eight power generators, a Hisense air conditioner, two power stabilizers, 10 motorcycles, eight laptops, four Bluetooth speakers, and 60 Android smartphones.
Oyewale added that the suspects would be prosecuted after investigations are completed.
