EFCC Arrests Aisha Achimugu at Abuja Airport.

Aisha Achimugu, a businesswoman declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in March for alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering, has been arrested.

She was taken into custody early Tuesday morning at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja shortly after arriving from London.

Her arrest comes less than 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice I.E. Ekwo, ordered her to appear before the EFCC and for the agency to present her in court on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Achimugu’s lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), criticized the arrest, stating that she returned to Nigeria voluntarily and has since begun a hunger strike, describing her as “a prisoner of conscience.
