Experts to Explore Gas Turbine Infrastructure and Energy Transition at Upcoming Abuja Conference.

Key players in the energy sector—including engineers, policymakers, and industry experts—will convene in Abuja from June 23–24, 2025, for the Annual Gas Turbine Asset Management Conference, focusing on the future of gas turbine infrastructu

re across Africa.

Organized by Thomassen Energy and  PE Energy, the two-day conference is themed “Unleashing Value: Innovative Asset Strategies for a Resilient African Economy.” The event aims to explore innovative approaches to asset management, promote local capacity development, accelerate digital adoption, and support the continent’s broader clean energy transition.

According to Dr. Daere Akobo, Chairman and Group CEO of Pana Holdings, the conference will serve as a platform for shaping a smarter and more sustainable energy future.

“Africa’s energy future lies not only in creating new infrastructure but also in maximizing the value of existing assets. This conference is a rallying point for upgrading, innovating, and empowering our continent to lead,” he said.

Peter Stuttaford, CEO of Thomassen Energy, emphasized the strategic importance of asset management in achieving energy resilience.

“Asset management is now central to Africa’s energy transformation. With our partners at PE Energy, we’re committed to delivering solutions that extend turbine life, promote local expertise, and foster energy independence.”

The conference will include panel discussions and thought leadership sessions examining the evolving role of gas turbines in Nigeria and across Africa’s power landscape.

Participants will also benefit from hands-on technical training tailored for engineers, operators, and other turbine professionals. These sessions will provide practical instruction in maintenance, technology upgrades, and future-oriented operations, helping to close critical skill gaps.

Key agenda topics include:

Localization of gas turbine services in Africa
Performance optimization and asset life extension
  Digital innovation and predictive maintenance
Flexibility of operations amid changing grid dynamics
Rehabilitation and relocation of gas turbine assets
Field services, repairs, and operational maintenance
  Clean energy pathways for Africa

The event underscores the shift toward sustainable, resilient energy systems and highlights the role of innovation and collaboration in powering Africa’s economic future.
