Federal Government Declares June 12 Public Holiday for Democracy Day.


The Federal Government has announced Thursday, June 12, 2025, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who e

xtended congratulations to Nigerians on 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance.

In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, June 12 was described as a symbol of the country’s ongoing pursuit of justice, peace, and national unity.

The minister emphasized that the nation’s democratic journey over the past 26 years reflects the resilience and determination of its people. He reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to upholding democratic values and ensuring that governance reflects the freely expressed will of the Nigerian people.
