Former Minister and Ex-Governor’s Wife Leave PDP for ADC in Yobe.

A former Minister of Police Affairs and two-time governorship candidate in Yobe State, Adamu Maina Waziri, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Waziri, who submitted his membership card at Dogotebo Ward in Potiskum Local Government Area, described the move as difficult after years of loyalty and service to the party.

Explaining his decision, he said:

“I resigned based on the party’s constitution, which requires members to submit their resignation at the ward level. Doing this in a primary school older than I am makes it symbolic. It’s not an easy decision, but I encourage those close to me to join us soon.”

Similarly, Zainab Boni-Haruna, the wife of a former Adamawa State governor and originally from Yobe, also resigned from the PDP. She made her announcement in Kukar Gadu, Fika Local Government Area, and confirmed she has joined the recently formed African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.

“I’ve informed my community that I am no longer a PDP member,” she said. “I’ve submitted my resignation and membership card. I call on my supporters to join the new coalition, Sabuwar Tafiya (meaning ‘new journey’ in Hausa), which aims to bring better leadership to our people.”

She encouraged supporters and Nigerians at large to support the coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Although the ADC coalition is less than a week old, it is already attracting disaffected politicians, particularly from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State.
