Fresh Wave of Abductions Hits Kwara as Terrorists Kidnap Three Residents.
Terrorists have launched another series of attacks in Kwara State, abducting at least three individuals in separate incidents within a 12-hour span.
Among the victims is a well-known Point of Sal
e (POS) agent, identified as Yman, who was kidnapped late Sunday night in Lafiagi town. Two other men, both of Hausa origin, were taken during a violent early-morning raid on Kokodo village on Monday, June 30. A young girl narrowly escaped capture by fleeing into the surrounding bush.
Local sources confirmed the incidents, highlighting a growing sense of fear and insecurity in the Kwara North region. “The situation is getting out of control,” one resident said. “These attacks are happening too frequently.”
Efforts to locate the victims are underway, with local vigilante groups and security personnel reportedly mobilized for a rescue operation. However, there has been no communication from the abductors so far.
These latest attacks come just a day after the reported kidnapping of a prominent agro-chemical dealer, known locally as “Alhaji Chemical,” in Lafiagi. He was abducted from his home around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday by armed assailants who arrived on motorcycles and overpowered local security.
Witnesses say the attackers appeared to have specifically targeted the businessman, raising concerns that the operation was premeditated. The incident has further fueled anxiety among residents, who are calling for stronger government action.
In a related development, the Kwara State Police Command recently confirmed a separate attack in Patigi Local Government Area that left three people dead. The victims—Timothy Paul (35), Alhaji Abdullahi Shehu (51), and his son, Abdullahi Muhammad (22)—were killed during raids on Mari and Lile villages on June 25.
Police described the killings as “dastardly” and said a full investigation has been launched to identify those responsible.
Communities across Kwara continue to demand increased security presence and urgent steps to curb the escalating violence.
