Governor Nwifuru Condemns Killing of 13 Ebonyi Residents in Anambra, Demands Immediate Investigation.
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has condemned the killing of 13 Ebonyi natives during a town union meeting in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The victims were reportedly attacked
two Mondays ago during their routine monthly gathering.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru described the attack as a “barbaric” act and a direct affront to peace, unity, and human dignity.
He called on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly, investigate the incident thoroughly, and bring those responsible to justice.
“This horrific act against peaceful citizens is deeply shocking and absolutely unacceptable,” Nwifuru said. “We strongly denounce this violence and will not tolerate such heinous behavior.”
The governor confirmed that he has contacted Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, urging him to oversee a transparent and prompt investigation.
He stressed that if justice is not served, the longstanding good relations between the two states could be jeopardized.
“It is unthinkable that a peaceful meeting would be the target of such cruelty. Acts like this have no place in a civilized society. We will use every legal tool available to identify and prosecute the attackers,” Nwifuru stated.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the safety of all Ebonyi citizens, both within the state and elsewhere, he appealed for calm among affected families and communities to prevent retaliatory actions.
“There will be no immunity for anyone involved. I will personally follow the progress of this investigation to ensure justice prevails,” he assured.
