House Speaker and Deputy Mourn Athletes Lost in Tragic Accident.


On Sunday, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident that claimed the lives of at

hletes returning from the National Sports Festival.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas described the incident as a devastating loss. He offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and wished a swift recovery for those injured. Abbas extended his condolences to the bereaved families and the Kano State Government, urging both state and federal authorities to take steps to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He also called for the athletes to be honored, recognizing their dedication and sacrifice in representing their state and country.

Deputy Speaker Kalu, in a separate statement released by his assistant Udora Orizu, echoed similar sentiments. He called the incident heartbreaking and described the loss as a painful blow to the nation. Kalu acknowledged the athletes’ dedication and the positive contributions they made through their passion for sports. He offered condolences to the families, the Kano State Government, and the wider sports community, and prayed for strength and comfort for all those affected.
