Housing Ministry Warns Public About Fake Sale of 753-Unit Estate.

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has issued a warning to the public, clarifying that it has not started selling the recently recovered 753-unit housing estate previously linked to former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

This announcement comes amid reports that fraudsters are deceiving Nigerians by claiming to sell units in the estate. These scammers reportedly charge up to N500,000 for fake “Expression of Interest” forms, falsely claiming connections to the ministry.

In an official statement, Director of Press and Public Relations Badamasi Haiba stated that the property was recently transferred to the ministry by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), following President Bola Tinubu’s directive.

The ministry has not initiated any sale. As per the President’s instruction, the estate will first be completed, infrastructure provided, and a proper plan for allocation will be announced,” the statement read.

Minister of Housing, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, also revealed that a technical committee will be formed to assess the buildings’ structural integrity, determine infrastructure needs, and recommend a strategy for future disposal.

The ministry stressed that when sales eventually begin, they will be publicly announced and conducted transparently under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Citizens are urged to disregard unofficial offers and direct all inquiries to the ministry’s Public Building and Housing Development departments or its Press and Public Relations unit.

We urge Nigerians to remain alert and avoid being scammed,” the ministry concluded.
