Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo, has officially married her Tanzanian partner, singer Juma Jux, in a grand traditional ceremony held in Lagos. The event, which took place on Thursday, attracted a host of Nigerian celebrities and generated a lot of online excitement.
This celebration followed their earlier, more intimate customary wedding in Tanzania back in February. The Lagos event saw appearances by Nollywood icons like Mercy Aigbe, Destiny Etiko, and Toyin Abraham, who actively participated and celebrated with the couple. Music legend Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey, aged 83, also made a memorable appearance.
For the Nigerian ceremony, Priscilla stunned in a richly decorated purple, orange, and pink asooke outfit, while Jux matched in a regal agbada adorned with similar colors and a symbolic staff featuring a carved African map. Their bridal party added to the colorful display, with groomsmen in pink agbadas and bridesmaids in stylish traditional attire.
Clips shared online showed the couple performing traditional rites in a beautifully decorated venue. Jux’s family also traveled to Nigeria to witness the ceremony. Expressing his love, Jux said he knew Priscilla was “the one” from the start, while Iyabo Ojo shared her joy, saying she always hoped her daughter would marry young and praised Jux’s values.
Priscilla’s father, Ademidun Ojo, who is Iyabo’s estranged husband, also attended the wedding, warmly welcoming guests and embracing his new son-in-law in touching moments that went viral. Despite their separation, Iyabo and Ademidun appeared united in support of their daughter, even dancing together in matching attire.
Their wedding journey began with a private introduction in Tanzania and a romantic second proposal by Jux just before Valentine’s Day, followed by a civil ceremony with celebrity friends in attendance.
Jux, who began his music career as a teen rapper and rose to fame with hits and collaborations across Africa, had previously been linked to Vanessa Mdee and Karen Bujulu. He confirmed his relationship with Priscilla publicly in 2024.
Now united through both Tanzanian and Nigerian traditions, the couple’s love story is being celebrated by fans across the continent as a modern African fairytale.
