Kaduna Court Sentences Man for Online Impersonation Fraud.
On June 25, 2025, Justice Amina Bello of the Kaduna State High Court convicted Ezeani Victor Udochukwu for impersonation-r
elated fraud. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Kaduna Zonal Directorate prosecuted him on a single count of falsely presenting himself as “Ann Sandra” on Facebook.
According to the charge, between January and June 2025, Udochukwu knowingly misrepresented himself on social media, an act punishable under Section 142(1) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
Udochukwu pleaded guilty when the charge was read, after which the prosecution requested his conviction and sentencing. His defense counsel asked the court for leniency, highlighting the defendant’s remorse.
Justice Bello sentenced Udochukwu to two years in prison or a fine of ₦300,000. Additionally, the court ordered the confiscation of an iPhone XR used in the commission of the crime, which will be forfeited to the federal government.
Udochukwu was arrested by the EFCC in Kaduna’s Sabo Tasha and Post Office Road areas, following credible intelligence linking him to internet fraud.
