The Chairman of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Chief Samuel Olaolu, has stated that the party is committed to defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a press conference in Abeokuta, Olaolu criticized the current administration, claiming that many Nigerians are frustrated with ongoing insecurity, hunger, and the struggling economy. He warned Tinubu not to assume re-election is certain, emphasizing that citizens are eager for change.
Olaolu said the Labour Party stands as the strongest opposition in the country, especially following the Supreme Court’s recognition of Senator Nenadi Usman’s leadership of the party’s caretaker committee. He argued that other opposition parties, like the PDP, have been weakened by internal divisions and external interference.
Reflecting on the party’s performance in the 2023 presidential election, he noted that the Labour Party secured over six million votes, and he believes support has since grown. According to him, many former PDP members are now joining the Labour Party due to dissatisfaction with the state of their former party.
He expressed confidence that the LP can triple its 2023 vote count in the upcoming 2027 election and promised that the party is ready to take over governance, rebuild the economy, and bring meaningful change to Nigeria.
Olaolu concluded by saying the Nenadi Usman-led committee is focused on restructuring the party to better serve Nigerians and ensure inclusive participation moving forward.
