Lagos Airport: Oshiomhole Describes Experience with Air Peace.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North and fo

rmer governor of Edo State, has shared details of a frustrating incident he experienced with Air Peace at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 in Lagos on Wednesday morning.

According to Oshiomhole, he and other passengers were denied boarding an Air Peace flight to Abuja, despite having checked in online in advance. He said the airline delayed an earlier flight by over five hours before eventually canceling it, prompting him to book the next available flight at 6:30 a.m.

“I arrived at the airport just after 6 a.m. and was told the counter had closed,” Oshiomhole explained. “I showed proof of my online check-in, but they still refused to allow me to board. Meanwhile, they were letting in other passengers and selling tickets at significantly higher prices.”

He claimed that passengers who had bought tickets earlier, often at lower rates, were being denied boarding, while the airline allegedly sold seats on the spot for between ₦200,000 and ₦300,000. One woman, who arrived with her infant before the boarding deadline, was told the flight was full, only to be offered a seat on a later flight for an additional ₦109,100—after already paying ₦146,000 online.

Oshiomhole criticized the airline’s practices and the failure of regulatory agencies to intervene. He said the situation escalated until security personnel, including DSS and Air Force officers, stepped in. Though they offered the woman a seat on the next flight, she would still have to pay the extra fare.

He added that he provided her with ₦500,000 to cover the cost and stood by other stranded passengers to highlight what he described as unfair and exploitative treatment. “This can’t continue,” he said.  You can’t deny boarding to those who followed the rules just to sell tickets at inflated prices.
