LP Chieftain Urges Atiku-Obi Alliance with Power-Sharing Deal Ahead of 2027 Election.

Gideon Aloba, a former House of Representatives candidate for Ijesa South in Osun State, has called for a strategic alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement, Aloba argued that only a united opposition can effectively challenge President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. He suggested a formal, structured coalition agreement where both leaders share power meaningfully, similar to the 2010 Conservative–Liberal Democrat alliance in the UK.

To unseat Tinubu, Atiku and Obi must come together. One must set aside personal ambition and back the other strategically,” Aloba stated.

He emphasized the importance of a detailed, legally binding agreement that clearly defines roles and responsibilities, warning that without such a framework, any merger could quickly unravel under political stress.

The coalition shouldn’t be symbolic or imbalanced. True power-sharing means one leader could oversee the economy, while the other handles security and anti-corruption,” he explained.

Aloba noted that managing candidate selection and maintaining support across both parties would require political maturity and a commitment to national interest over personal goals. He described the alliance as both “inevitable” and “necessary” for Nigeria’s political future.
