Luka Modric Confirms Real Madrid Departure in Emotional Farewell.

Luka Modric has announced that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the current season, marking the close of a legendary 13-year spell at the club.

The 39-year-old midfielder shared the news via social media, saying it was a moment he “never wanted to come.” Modric, who joined the Spanish giants in 2012, has made 590 appearances and scored 43 goals. He described his time at the club as life-changing and expressed immense pride in having been part of one of the most successful eras in Real Madrid’s history.

In his farewell message, Modric thanked club president Florentino Pérez, teammates, coaches, and fans for their support throughout his career. He highlighted unforgettable moments, including dramatic comebacks, title wins, and emotional nights at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid confirmed Modric’s departure will follow the Club World Cup in the U.S. this summer. Reports suggest the club opted not to extend his contract. During his time in Madrid, Modric won 28 major trophies, including six Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, and two Copa del Reys. He is the most decorated player in Real Madrid history.

Modric’s final home match will be against Real Sociedad on Saturday, May 24, at the Santiago Bernabéu. He is expected to play for the club one last time in the Club World Cup starting June 18.
