Manchester United Consider Aleksandar Mitrovic Transfer After Missing Out on Liam Delap.

Manchester United are reportedly evaluating a potential move for Aleksandar Mitrovic as an alternative after missing out on striker Liam Delap, who is finalizing a £30 million transfer to Chelsea from Ipswich Town.

Delap h

ad been a priority target for United this summer, but he has opted to join Chelsea, where he reunites with former coach Enzo Maresca. With the transfer nearly completed, United are now exploring other options to bolster their attacking lineup.

According to talkSPORT, Mitrovic has emerged as a possible candidate. The Serbian striker currently plays for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, who paid approximately £50 million to sign him from Fulham in 2023. Despite turning 31 in September, Al-Hilal are reportedly seeking around £40 million for his transfer.

Mitrovic scored 19 goals in 23 appearances last season, boasting a stronger goals-per-game ratio than some high-profile names like Karim Benzema and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Since joining Al-Hilal, he has netted 68 goals in 79 games across all competitions and previously had successful spells in England with Newcastle and Fulham.

His availability could be influenced by Al-Hilal’s plans to make additional marquee signings, including links to Cristiano Ronaldo and Victor Osimhen, which might force them to sell players due to foreign player quotas.

United aren’t alone in tracking Mitrovic, with Everton and West Ham also showing interest in the striker. All three clubs are expected to prioritize signing a new centre-forward before the transfer window closes.

United’s need for attacking reinforcements is urgent following underwhelming seasons from Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, whose futures at the club remain uncertain. The club has already confirmed the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, but more attacking options are being sought.

United’s lack of Champions League football next season has reportedly influenced their transfer appeal, contributing to Delap’s decision to choose Chelsea. It may also affect their chances with other targets like Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Šeško.

Several current players, including Antony, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho, are expected to depart to make room for new arrivals.
