Matheus Cunha’s £123.5m Move to Manchester United: Financial Breakdown.

Manchester United’s total financial commitment for new signing  Matheus Cunha is estimated at £123.5 million, which includes both his £62.5 million transfer fee and w

ages over a five-year contract.

The club confirmed Cunha as their first signing of the summer after activating his release clause from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Though United requested to spread the transfer fee over five years, Wolves agreed to three instalments of approximately £20.85 million over two years.

Despite the shorter payment window, United will reflect the cost over five years in their accounting due to amortization rules.

Cunha, who previously earned around  £120,000 per week at Wolves, will now earn £200,000 weekly at United. His contract includes a five-year term with an option to extend for another year. He will also wear the prestigious number ten shirt, previously worn by Marcus Rashford.

     Breakdown of Financial Commitment:

Transfer Fee: £62.5 million (amortized at £12.3 million/year)
Wages and Employment Costs: Approx. £12 million/year
    Annual Total: £24.3 million
    First-year impact (2024/25): £1.9 million

These figures exclude agent fees so the total may rise.

Cunha’s move was reportedly approved by new manager **Ruben Amorim**, who played a direct role in convincing the Brazilian international to join. The club and fans alike are hoping Cunha’s arrival sparks improvement after a frustrating season for United’s attacking lineup.
