NAPTIP Investigates Speed Darlington Over Alleged Sexual Claim.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has opened an inv

estigation into singer Speed Darlington after a controversial video surfaced in which he claimed to have had a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl.

The video, shared on social media, sparked widespread outrage, with many criticizing the artist for allegedly admitting to engaging in illegal conduct involving a minor.

In response to the backlash, Speed Darlington claimed the story was fabricated for entertainment purposes, saying it was part of a publicity stunt to promote his new song. He stated, “I need controversy to eat.”

Initially, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) responded to the video but explained that it could not proceed with an investigation since the location of the alleged incident was unclear. The agency then referred the case to NAPTIP.

In a statement, the DSVA said:
We are aware of the disturbing video circulating online in which a popular entertainer allegedly admits to unlawful sexual activity with a minor. However, since the incident location was not specified and our jurisdiction is limited to Lagos State, we have escalated the matter to NAPTIP.”

NAPTIP confirmed via social media that its Cybercrime Response Team has begun reviewing the video and related content.

“The NAPTIP Cybercrime Response Team has commenced investigations into the disturbing Instagram Live video and other related material. We are committed to ensuring children are safe and free from all forms of violence,” the agency stated.
