In further action against illegal drug operations, NDLEA agents destroyed cannabis farms spanning over 7.27 hectares in Okhuse Forest and Ugbada Uzebba Forest, both located in Owan West Local Government Area. The destroyed farms had an estimated potential yield of over 18,000 kg of cannabis.
On the legal front, 11 new cases were filed in June, with five resulting in convictions. A total of 107 cases remain pending at the Federal High Court in Benin City.
The command’s Drug Demand Reduction Unit provided counseling to 32 individuals (18 men and 14 women) and held awareness programs across several institutions to educate the public on the dangers of drug abuse.
Commander Ofoyeju reaffirmed the NDLEA’s commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and promoting community collaboration in tackling the problem.
