Ndume Commends Tinubu for Appointing Northerners to Key Federal Roles.

Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has praised President Bola Tinubu for appointing several individuals from Northern Nigeria to key positions in federal agencies. He described the move as a positive step toward inclusive governance.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Ndume noted that the appointments address earlier concerns about regional imbalance in government representation. His remarks came after the announcement of 12 new appointments, many of which were from the North.

Notable appointees include:

   Yazid Shehu Danfulani (Zamfara) – Managing Director, Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation
  Hamza Baba (Kano) – Programme Manager, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme
  Abubakar Jarengol (Adamawa) – Executive Director of Operations, NAIC
  Sama’ila Audu (Katsina) – Executive Director of Administration, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund
  Prof. Musa Tafsiri (Kebbi) – Executive Secretary, National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education
  Isa Aremu (Kwara) – Director-General, Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies

Ndume had previously voiced concerns about the North being underrepresented, citing Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution, which advocates for fair representation of Nigeria’s diverse regions. He warned that continued imbalance could lead to discontent.

In his latest statement, Ndume expressed appreciation for the President’s willingness to consider feedback. “President Tinubu is receptive to constructive criticism,” he said.    Our earlier concerns were meant to uphold constitutional principles, not to attack.”

He congratulated the appointees and urged them to meet public expectations. Ndume also reaffirmed his support for the President, emphasizing that his critiques are motivated by patriotism and a commitment to national progress.
