No Vacancy in Ekiti Government House Until 2030, Say Pensioners.

The Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has publicly endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term, stating that there is effectively “no vacancy” in the Government House until 2030.

During a gathering in Ado-Ekiti, the state NUP Chairman, Comrade Tope Popoola, praised the governor for his commitment to pensioners’ welfare, inclusive governance, and consistent fulfillment of promises. He encouraged political aspirants to set aside their ambitions and support the current administration for the state’s continued development.

Popoola highlighted several achievements under Oyebanji’s administration, including regular pension payments, clearing of inherited gratuity debts, a N10,000 palliative for retirees, and the appointment of a special adviser on pension matters—claimed to be the first of its kind in Nigeria. He also mentioned a N15 million donation by the governor toward a pensioners’ guest house project.

NUP’s National Vice President, Comrade Ayo Kumapayi, echoed these sentiments, noting that pensioners’ living standards had significantly improved and their dignity restored.

Responding through his deputy, Chief Monisade Afuye, Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude for the pensioners’ support and reassured them that their welfare would remain a top priority.
