NSCDC Arrests Seven for Vandalism at Kano Airport.

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested seven individuals suspected of vandalising public infrastructure at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

According to the NSCDC’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the suspects were caught after stealing 10 metal manhole covers owned by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Personnel stationed at the airport apprehended them and transferred the case to the Anti-vandalism Unit, which later arrested additional suspects linked to the crime.

The individuals identified as directly involved in the theft are Abubakar Umar (20), Sadiq Jafar (23), Iliya Nasir (20), Abba Muhammad (18), and Al-ameen Idris (18). Two others—Shamsu Ibrahim Usman (35) and Yusuf Abdulmumini (25)—were arrested as alleged buyers of the stolen items.

Authorities also recovered evidence during the investigation, including the 10 stolen manhole covers and a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.

In a related case, the NSCDC also arrested two other suspects—Haruna Musa (39) and Sadiq Suleiman (27)—for stealing four large solar panels from Kanawa Economic City in Dangwauro, Kumbotso Local Government Area.

All nine suspects will face prosecution once investigations are concluded.
