Official: Barcelona Confirms Departure of Midfielder Aleix Garrido.
Barcelona has officially announced that midfielder Aleix Garrido will leave the club at the end of the current season, ending a 13-year spell with the Catalan side.
“Aleix Garrido will not continue at FC Barcelona next season,” the club stated. “The 21-year-old player and captain of Barça Atlètic is ending a 13-season journey, from joining as a youth player to making his first-team debut.”
The club also extended its best wishes to Garrido for his future, both personally and professionally.
Garrido began his career at Barcelona in 2012, joining the club at the Benjamin C level. He advanced through the youth system at La Masia and eventually became captain of Barça Atlètic. He made his senior debut under then-coach Xavi Hernandez during the 2022/23 La Liga season in a match against Elche—his only appearance with the first team.
Despite missing part of the most recent season due to injury, Garrido returned to become a regular in the squad. However, his contributions were not enough to prevent the reserve side from being relegated.
With his contract set to expire on June 30, Garrido has chosen not to renew and is expected to join Spanish second-division club Eibar.
