Pilgrimages Should Not Reward the Corrupt – Nataro

Former Kebbi State governorship candidate,

Mallam Salihu Isa Nataro, has said that spiritual pilgrimages should be considered rewarding only for individuals who have maintained integrity in public service and business. According to Nataro, those who have stolen public funds or defrauded others should not expect spiritual benefits from such religious journeys.

Speaking from Saudi Arabia, where he is performing Hajj for the first time, Nataro expressed gratitude for the opportunity to pray for Nigeria and for President Bola Tinubu’s continued good health and leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Nataro called on President Tinubu’s appointees and APC members to engage with their communities and educate them about the dire economic situation inherited by the current administration. He criticized past governments for taking foreign loans to beautify cities rather than investing in key sectors like education and mechanized agriculture, which he said contributed to widespread poverty.

He also urged Tinubu to seek investments from countries like France, China, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE to help industrialize Nigeria. Commenting on the recent visit of the Chief of Defence Staff to Russia, Nataro welcomed the move and advocated for Nigeria to begin producing military technology such as drones and robotic systems domestically.

He emphasized that the military must shift from outdated equipment to modern warfare tools, and warned against purchasing imported equipment embedded with foreign tracking systems. Nataro further questioned the relevance of Nigeria’s aspirations for a United Nations Security Council seat, citing the global body’s perceived ineffectiveness in conflicts like the Israel-Palestine crisis.
