The Presidency has addressed criticisms surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s absence from Nigeria, emphasizing that despite being abroad, he is actively monitoring the situation at home.
In a statement released on Thursday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, defended Tinubu amid calls from opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi for his immediate return, citing the rising insecurity in the country.
Onanuga stressed that the President remains “fully engaged” in governing the nation from Europe. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully involved in managing national affairs, even while temporarily away. His trip is within the previously announced two-week timeframe.
He added that Tinubu traveled from Paris to London over the weekend and has been in regular contact with top officials, particularly in addressing recent security challenges. Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after the Easter holiday.
The Presidency reassured Nigerians that the government continues to operate efficiently, and Tinubu’s dedication to his responsibilities has not wavered.
