SEC Warns Nigerians Against Silverkuun Investment Scheme.

geria has issued a public warning against investing in Silverkuun Investment Cooperative Society and  Silverkuun Limited, stating that these entities are not registered or authorized to operate in the country’s capital market.

In a statement released on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the SEC noted that Silverkuun falsely presents itself as an investment adviser and fund manager, which misleads the public. The Commission emphasized that neither the cooperative society nor the limited company holds any regulatory approval.

The SEC cautioned Nigerians to avoid any financial dealings with Silverkuun or its representatives, warning that doing so exposes investors to high risks, including potential fraud and loss of funds.

The Commission reminded the public to verify the registration status of any investment firm through its official portal before making financial commitments.

SEC Director-General Emomotimi Agama** reiterated the Commission’s commitment to cracking down on unlicensed investment schemes. He said such operations would be shut down, and promoters would face legal consequences.

Agama also highlighted recent reforms under the Investment and Securities Act (ISA) 2025, which bring digital assets under SEC regulation. All virtual asset service providers and digital exchanges are now required to register with the Commission.

Additionally, the SEC is enhancing its efforts in investor education through podcasts, digital media, and the integration of financial literacy into school curriculums. These efforts aim to help Nigerians identify and avoid fraudulent investment opportunities.
