Ter Stegen Furious Over Barcelona’s Goalkeeper Plans, Vows to Stay.

Marc-André ter Stegen is reportedly furious with FC Barcelona’s pursuit of Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia and is determined not to leave the club despite being at risk of losing his place in the team.

According to *SPORT*, the German goalkeeper feels deeply disrespected by the club’s move, viewing it as a direct challenge to his professional reputation. Barcelona’s decision comes as Ter Stegen continues his recovery from a patellar tendon injury suffered last August.

During his absence, the club brought in veteran goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who has since become the preferred choice under new manager Hansi Flick. Szczesny is also expected to sign a contract extension, potentially pushing Ter Stegen further down the goalkeeper hierarchy.

Ter Stegen, who only made nine appearances for Barcelona in the 2024–25 season, has had a reportedly strained relationship with Flick, partly due to the manager’s reluctance to reinstate him quickly after injury.

Despite the tensions, Ter Stegen remains the starting goalkeeper for the German national team and is set to feature in the Nations League third-place match against France. His future at Barcelona, however, remains uncertain, with club sporting director Deco expected to address the situation soon.
