Tinubu Commits to Balanced Infrastructure Across Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to equitable infrastructure development throughout Nigeria. Speaking at the commissioning of a newly completed 15-kilometre road connecting the

A2 Abuja–Lokoja highway to Pai Town in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), he emphasized that every region would benefit from federal projects.

The President stated that infrastructure should uplift communities and improve livelihoods. “Infrastructure development must serve the people. Our goal is to bring progress to both urban and rural areas,” Tinubu said.

The project is one of many under the Tinubu administration. According to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, over 150 kilometers of rural roads have been constructed across the six area councils of the FCT since May 29, 2023, when Tinubu took office.

Tinubu highlighted the strategic value of the new road, saying it enhances access to markets, schools, and healthcare while strengthening economic opportunities in rural areas. He also acknowledged the neglect rural communities have faced, promising to reverse that trend.

“Communities like Pai contribute significantly to our economy through agriculture and small businesses. Yet, poor infrastructure has limited their potential. That changes today,” Tinubu said.

The President urged local residents to take ownership of the infrastructure and ensure its protection. He praised Wike for focusing on rural development and stressed the importance of these efforts in addressing long-standing inequalities.

Tinubu also touched on the need to reduce conflicts between farmers and livestock herders by encouraging cooperation and shared land use. “We can turn sources of tension into shared prosperity,” he said.

Wike detailed ongoing and completed road projects, noting that 150 kilometers of roads have either been built or are under construction. He cited examples, including roads in Gwagwalada and Karshi, and praised Tinubu for supporting rural development.

He also described the significance of the Pai Town road and its connection to other key routes, noting that the expanded network will improve both mobility and security in previously hard-to-reach areas.

“This road and others are proof that development is reaching even the most remote communities,” Wike concluded.
