Trump Says Group of Wealthy Investors Ready to Buy TikTok.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that a group of wealthy investors is prepared to purchase TikTok’s U.S. operations. In an inter

view aired Sunday on Fox News’ *Sunday Morning Futures*, Trump said he would disclose the names of the buyers in about two weeks.

Trump noted that the proposed deal would likely require approval from the Chinese government and expressed confidence that Chinese President Xi Jinping would grant it.

Earlier this month, Trump extended a September 17 deadline for ByteDance, TikTok’s China-based parent company, to divest its U.S. assets. This move came despite a U.S. law mandating the app be sold or shut down if significant progress wasn’t made toward a sale.

A potential agreement earlier this year to spin off TikTok’s U.S. operations into a new, American-controlled company was stalled when China appeared unwilling to approve the transaction. That hesitation reportedly followed Trump’s announcement of new tariffs on Chinese goods.

“We have a buyer for TikTok,” Trump said. “I believe President Xi will probably go along with it.”

Under a 2024 U.S. law, TikTok must cease operations in the country by January 19 unless ByteDance completes the sale or demonstrates meaningful progress. Trump, who has credited TikTok with helping him gain support among younger voters in the last election, has now delayed the deadline three times.
