Umo Eno Responds to Daughter’s Accusation, Blames Political Opponents.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has addressed a viral video in which his daughter, Jane Ufot, appeared to accuse him of “sacrificing” her late mother, Patience Umo Eno, who passed away on September 2
7, 2024, after an illness.
In the emotional video, Ufot pleads with her father, saying, *”Daddy, please. Let us talk before this thing destroys. I’m not a sacrifice—mummy was, but I’m not.”* She also referenced past family tragedies and implied threats to her and her daughter’s safety.
Governor Eno, responding to the claims on Saturday, dismissed them as politically motivated and said they stemmed from the emotional trauma his daughter experienced following her mother’s death.
We are in political times, so these things are expected,” he stated. “That video was recorded shortly after my wife passed away. My family is intact, and it’s unfortunate that such moments of grief are being brought back now.
He questioned the timing of the video’s release, noting it coincided with the approach of his administration’s second anniversary and the celebration of its achievements.
Why is this resurfacing now? Clearly, there are detractors trying to distract us. I remain focused on serving the people of Akwa Ibom,” he added.
Eno appealed to the public to respect his family’s privacy and not reopen painful memories, emphasizing his commitment to governance despite personal losses.
