Van Dijk Sends Support to Injured Fans After Liverpool Parade Incident.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk expressed his concern and support for fans injured during the club’

s Premier League trophy parade, saying he is “praying for a speedy recovery” for all affected.

Around 50 people, including four children, were injured when a car drove into crowds gathered for the celebration in central Liverpool. The incident occurred on Monday evening, roughly ten minutes after the team’s parade bus had left the area. Authorities confirmed a 53-year-old man from the Liverpool area has been arrested.

Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram reported that four of the injured individuals are in critical condition in hospital. Van Dijk shared a message on social media, accompanied by an image of the Royal Liver Building, offering thoughts and prayers to the victims.

Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and ex-player Kenny Dalglish also expressed their condolences and support. Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan said the joyful celebration ended in unexpected tragedy, and the club’s thoughts are with those affected.

Tens of thousands of fans had gathered on the streets for the event. Water Street, where the incident occurred, had been closed to traffic, but witnesses said the car ignored road closure signs. Police are not treating the crash as terror-related. Twenty-seven people were taken to hospitals for treatment.
