Who Has PDP Made in Lagos?” — Wike Responds to Bode George.

The ongoing dispute within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken another turn as Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, responded strongly to recent critic

isms from PDP stalwart Chief Bode George.

Last week, Bode George condemned Wike’s role in the closure of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja, describing the action as “sacrilegious” and a betrayal of the party that, in his words, “brought Wike to life.”

The shutting down of our Party Secretariat is culturally unacceptable and disrespectful. Wike must remember this is the party that made him,” George stated.

However, Wike pushed back during a media briefing on Monday. While he acknowledged the role PDP played in his rise to national prominence, he argued that political parties owe their influence to the work of individuals—not the other way around.

Yes, the PDP gave me a platform, but it is individuals who make parties popular and win elections. A party alone doesn’t create political success,” Wike said.

He challenged George’s position by pointing out that the PDP has struggled to make political headway in Lagos, despite George’s decades-long influence there.

If it’s true that parties make politicians, then who has the PDP made in Lagos? Since 1999, not a single House of Assembly member, not one House of Reps seat, not one Senator. Nothing,” he added.

Wike emphasized that his loyalty and contributions to the PDP should not be questioned. According to him, he has consistently worked to maintain the party’s relevance both in his home state and at the national level.

I have campaigned, built support, and helped make PDP a strong party in my state and beyond. That’s more than can be said for those still blaming others for failures in Lagos,” he concluded.
