The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacks the strong internal structure needed to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Wike made this assertion on Friday during a live media parley in Abuja.
He noted that ongoing internal divisions and conflicting interests among key party stakeholders continue to obstruct meaningful coalition efforts.
In his words: “The PDP is clearly not ready for the 2027 elections. Take for example, if I say I’m studying for an exam but I’m not truly focused — I’m just carrying a bag to class to make it look like I’m reading — then I’m only deceiving myself. That’s exactly what the PDP is doing. Power tussles and internal wrangling are hindering the party’s readiness.”
