Wizkid and Davido Inspired My Music Career, Says Micho Tello.
Michael Omoh, known professionally as Micho Tello, began writing songs at the age of 11 and is quickly emerging as a promising talent in the Afrobeats scene.
Growing up, Micho was heavily influenced by hip-hop legends such as 50 Cent, DMX, and MI. However, it was Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Davido who ultimately inspired him to pursue music seriously.
“Since I was eight, I loved listening to 50 Cent and DMX, then MI came along with his unique style that really caught my attention. But Wizkid and Davido were my biggest inspirations—they motivated me to create music,” he shared.
He started songwriting young but only recorded his first trap/rap track, “7 Years,” in 2016, inspired by South African rapper Nasty C. The song received positive feedback in his community, sparking his musical journey.
Micho later connected with veteran artist Eedris Abdulkareem, who encouraged him to focus on themes reflecting Nigeria’s challenges. This led to his second single and first Afro Hip Hop track, “E De Pain Me,” which won a competition and earned him a feature in The Big Wave Magazine in Ghana around 2019/2020.
A versatile artist who sings, raps, and performs poetry, Micho Tello describes his music as a blend of Afro Pop and Conscious Hip Hop.
Looking ahead, Micho plans to release two new singles. The first, “Why,” is an Afro Pop track showcasing his range as both a singer and rapper, performed solo to highlight his versatility. The second, titled “Acrimony,” explores themes of bitterness and personal struggle, and holds special meaning for him.
