You failed to plan Anambra’s future’ — Tinubu’s aide responds to Obi’s Saint Lucia holiday remark.

Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on digital engagement and strategy, criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidenti

al candidate, over his comments about President Tinubu’s trip to Saint Lucia.

Obi had accused the President of taking a ‘holiday’ abroad amid a security crisis at home. He questioned why Tinubu would leave the country during a time when Minna, Niger State, was grappling with a devastating flood that claimed over 200 lives and left more than 700 missing.

Calling the trip “ill-timed and insensitive,” Obi said he found it hard to believe any leader would consider such a leisure trip under those circumstances.

In response, Ogra tweeted that Obi, as a former governor of Anambra State for eight years, failed to plan for the state’s future and has no lasting legacy to show for his tenure. He added that Obi does not grasp the geopolitical significance of Tinubu’s visit to the Caribbean.

According to Ogra, the President’s trip is a strategic move to reposition Nigeria internationally, not a holiday as Obi suggested. He described the visit as a “masterstroke” understood only by those familiar with geopolitics and Nigeria’s strategic needs.

Before Ogra’s tweet, the presidency had issued a statement through Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, affirming that the visit to Saint Lucia is a historic diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening ancestral ties and enhancing cooperation between Nigeria and the Caribbean nation.
